Located towards the western end of the Algarve Portimao is a city on the bank of the Arade River which was known primarily for its fishing industry, visitors to the city will find plenty of historic docks and market places. In recent years much of the city has been transformed into a more tourist centric space complete with promenades and beautiful outdoor spaces which makes for a great Algarve holiday destination.
Many people confuse Portimao with Praia da Rocha however Portimao is the city and Praia da Rocha is a smaller resort running along the southern coast arranged around the gorgeous (and really popular) Praia da Rocha beach.
In terms of holiday rentals whilst we do have some villas in Portimao listed you tend to find this area has a greater proportion of apartments rather than the holiday villas you might find in over Algarve areas such as Albufeira or Carvoeiro, although if you are looking for to stay in Portimao with a pool we definitely have options!
